Hot water – we are talking about around 150-190°F. Do NOT use boiling water. It will damage the alkaloids.  Good rule of thumb is to boil the water and then let it sit for 5 or so minutes. Water boils at 201°F in Colorado, 212°F at sea level.

Optional: Some type of filter – many people prefer to swallow the kratom powder, others prefer to filter it out. You will get most of the alkaloids by steeping in hot water for 15 minutes.

Optional: Ice to chill your kratom for enjoyment.

Optional: An airtight storage container for keeping in the refrigerator

Step Guide to Make Kratom Tea

  1. Boil your water. Plan for 8-12oz of water per serving.
  2. Let your boiled water sit for about 5 minutes to lower in temperature to 150-190°F
  3. Add in 2 grams of kratom powder per serving for your kratom tea.
  4.  Let your kratom tea steep for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Stir vigorously, then pour – filtering out the powder if you wish.

Tips for Storage and Use

  • For cold tea let your brewed hot kratom tea sit for a while to lower in temperature. Then pour it out, filtering the powder if you wish. Finally, pour into a glass with ice and any sweetener or flavors to shake (like a cocktail), allowing the tea to lower in temperature more. You can serve with or without ice.

  • For storing: put into an airtight container and put in the refrigerator or freezer after reaching room temperature. Kratom tea will last 5-7 days in the refrigerator, and up to 3 months in the freezer.

  • French press style makers are very efficient and helpful for brewing quality kratom tea at home.
